about.
My work explores the intersection of painting and fiber art. I am a nature-inspired artist, shaped by growing up right outside of Butler, Pennsylvania, where time spent near the woods continues to influence my imagery and process. I begin with acrylic or watercolor on either paper or fabric, allowing color, movement, and spontaneity to guide the foundation of each piece. Each surface responds differently—paper holds the immediacy of the paint, while fabric absorbs and softens it—shaping the direction of the work. Once the painted layer is established, I return to the surface with a sewing machine, stitching directly into it to build line, texture, and detail. I think of thread as a drawing tool—one that moves differently than a brush or pencil. The stitched lines respond to the painted marks, sometimes emphasizing form, other times interrupting or redefining it. Through this process, I create a layered dialogue between painting and stitching, control and unpredictability. By combining these materials, I aim to push the boundaries of traditional media, transforming flat surfaces into tactile, dimensional works that invite closer inspection.
